Volunteers needed for exciting roles at National Age Group Championships

News and Blogs

Volunteers are needed to help fill two exciting roles at the Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships.

A music operator and social media assistant are being recruited for the event, which is taking place at the Manchester Aquatics Centre on 2-3 March.

The National Age Group Championships is the premiere competition for young synchronised swimmers in England.

And the music operator and social media assistant roles are vital to help ensure the event is a success.

Maria Ramos, chairperson of the Swim England Synchronised Swimming group and meet director for the championships, said: “We are always looking for opportunities to engage people who have a passion for our sport and who want to develop through taking advantage of the roles and experience we can offer.”

The music operator will work as part of a team and be responsible for playing the pre-set list of music for the athletes who are competing.

This role is in partnership with the sports presentation manager and full training will be given.

The social media assistant is required to create posts for the Swim England social media accounts using images from the event and help collect quotes and interview footage from winners to support the production of reports.

Gain experience and learn new skills

Claire Coleman, Swim England head of volunteering and pathways, said: “Volunteering and giving time to help others is hugely rewarding.

“By volunteering at our national events, individuals have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, learn new skills, as well as meet new friends.

“There are a variety of volunteer roles available, from front of house team members, to announcers and sports press assistants. So whatever your background or interests, you will find a suitable role for you!

“Each role plays a key part in making sure athletes and spectators get the best possible experience.”

Claire added that volunteers were needed to help all Swim England events run as smoothly as possible.

She said: “A variety of roles will become available at national events across the country in all aquatic disciplines.

“No prior experience is required as training and support is always provided, and new volunteers are always welcomed with open arms.”
