I love volunteering because: Having been a swimmer since a young age and experienced the galas and events I know how much it means to the young swimmers and gives me a sense of accomplishment to be able to help run these events and see everyone enjoying themselves.
I am 17 years old and have been swimming as long as I can remember. I joined my local club when I was 11, and aside from my training, am now both an official and a coach for Leighton Buzzard.
I am currently studying for A levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Geography at Aylesbury Grammar School and hope to carry this on and go to university studying Geophysics or Earth Sciences.
At the moment I try to train five times a week with my club, however, recently exams have been getting in the way. I have been teach twice a week, once with our learn to swim group, and once with our junior swimmers, and have been doing with the learn to swim programme for the past two years.
I am in training for my Level 2 judge qualification, and have been a qualified Level 1 judge for more than six months, officiating at both counties and regionals, as well as other club galas.
Since attending the Youth Sport Trust’s National Talent Camp in December, I’ve become much more motivated and I really feel like I can make a difference with the Youth Forum as we push forward together.
