I love volunteering because: There’s a huge range of different areas where you can give your time to help, including officiating, coaching and event management.
I’ve been involved in swimming for as long as I remember, and I’ve been a member of Retford Swimming Club since I was seven. I have swum competitively at a county level – however, now I am more focused on other roles within the sport.
I am a qualified Official for Swimming at Level J2 and for Open Water at Level 1, and I have completed my Level 1 in Teaching Aquatics. As well as the Youth Forum, I’m also an ASA Youth Activator, and I attended the National Talent Camp for Young Officials in December 2014.
I’m a swimmer, coach, official, team manager and member of the committee at Retford Swimming Club which keeps me fairly busy!
Aside from swimming, I am involved in Lifesaving Sport and the RLSS UK. I represented Retford at the World Interclub Championships for Lifesaving Sport, which were held in Montpellier, France in September 2014. I also work as a lifeguard at my local leisure centre.
I hope that my experience across many disciplines and activities within aquatics will help me to bring new ideas and discussions to the National Youth Forum which will in turn help to develop the ASA and the sport for everyone involved.
