Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Swimming – POSTPONED

The swimming events at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games were due to place at Tokyo Aquatics Centre from 26 August – 4 September 2020.

The Paralympic swimming takes place through nearly the entirety of the Games.

Event Postponed

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games have been postponed until summer 2021 at the latest.

Medals will be won on all 10 days of swimming at the 2020 Paralympics.

Tokyo Aquatics Centre is a newly-constructed venue in the Tatsumi-no-Mori Seaside Park with a capacity of 15,000. The venue will also host the Olympic diving, lane swimming and artistic swimming events.

Swimming was one of the original sports when Sir Ludwig Guttmann’s Stoke Mandeville Games became the first modern Paralympic Games at Rome in 1960.

ParalympicsGB have a strong history in the pool, and landed 47 medals at the most recent Paralympics in Rio. Bethany Firth was one of the stars of the British team, winning three golds and a silver on her Paralympic debut.

The Team GB 2020 Paralympic swimming team will be selected following the British Para-Swimming International Meet 2020 in London.
