International Learn to Swim provider FAQS

Swim England International Learn to Swim Provider is a membership scheme designed for those delivering or helping to deliver the Learn to Swim Programme. This includes international schools and operators.

By becoming a Member you will have access to a range of benefits with Swim England and our partners, as well as expert support and guidance on how to deliver the Learn to Swim Programme to the highest possible standard. The programme provides swimmers with the opportunity to develop core aquatic skills to progress through the Long Term Athlete Development support pathway. This leads to developing specific sport aquatic skills, allowing the swimmers to be prepared for entering the other aquatic disciplines, as well as gaining a life-long love and participation within swimming.

If you would like to speak to someone directly about your membership, contact the team.

The physical resources will be posted to your address within the first few weeks of signing up. Postage and packing costs are added to your original sign up.

Digital resources such as the international provider logo and access to the marketing resources will be shared with you in your welcome email and loaded onto the swim school portal. You will also be contacted by a member of the Learn to Swim to give you access to the Swim England Video streaming channel

Any International school, independent swim school, or operator involved with the provision of the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme can apply to become a Member. To be successful in your application, you must meet Swim England’s minimum criteria for International Learn to Swim Providers These are detailed below.

  1. Evidence of current Public Liability Insurance
  2. Proof of delivery of the Learn to Swim Programme
  3. Actively purchasing Learn to Swim Awards
  4. Swim Teachers who are qualified to Swim England Level 2 standard (or equivalent)
  5. Evidence and details of pool safety operating procedures (PSOPs)
  6. Proof that staff members are up to date with child protection polices and safeguarding training
  7. Ensure there is a Welfare Officer in post in your organisation
If your school doesn’t meet all the criteria, Swim England can support new members to work towards the missing requirements within the first year of the membership. Please email [email protected] for queries related to the joining criteria.

  • Initial sign up costs £300 which includes the benefits and first year license fee
  • Annual renewal costs £85
  • Prices are subject to annual review and exclude postage and packaging fees. Customer is responsible for paying any relevant import charges.

Applying for Membership is easy. Once you’ve checked that you have the required documentation in place, simply visit our Sign up page and complete the online application form.

You will be notified with an email from Swim England's Membership Team 30 days before your renewal. If paid by invoice or one off payment you will need to complete the renewals form online. If paid by auto renewal your money will come out automatically.

  • Affiliation with Swim England and continue to be part of the international network of swimming providers.
  • Providers will have access to and the right to display the Swim England International Learn to Swim Provider logo.
  • Access to the International Provider Boxlink, including helpful resources such as marketing resources and teaching materials.
  • Online access to the Swim England Video Channel
  • Ongoing technical support from our Learn to Swim Team.
  • International Learn to Swim communications including termly network engagement sessions, drop in days and access to the International Bulletin.

The Learn to Swim awards are divided into progressive stages. They make up the core, national syllabus of learning to swim for primary school aged children.

They are designed to reward swimmers for their development of the essential aquatic skills they need to be confident, competent and safe in the water.

Each of the Learn to Swim Stage 1-7 Awards has a list of clear outcomes that need to be completed in order to gain each Award

You will be in regular contact with our Learn to Swim Technical Aquatic Managers who can provide all the support and guidance needed to run you’re Learn to Swim Programme.

One of the benefits included within the membership is receiving termly updates ranging from network engagement calls, drop in clinics and receiving international bulletins. These will help keep you up to date with best practise and industry changes, as well as having the opportunity to engage and connect with other International Learn to Swim providers. Yes. As a Swim England International Learn to Swim provider, you are representing the national governing body through your programme. We have certain guidelines on how and where our logo can be used.

When we have processed your application you will receive an email to set up your login to the portal.

You will be able to do this on the login page of the portal. The portal details will be sent to you by our membership team via email once your application has been processed.
