
Routine Grade 1
January 9, 2017The Swim England Artistic Swimming Routine Grade 1 focuses on basic entry, travel and hybrids in artistic swimming.
Swimmers will be required to perform 10 elements to judges. Each grade has three levels (gold, silver and bronze) so all athletes have the ability to perfect their figures before moving to the next grade.

10 Elements to Artistic Swimming Routine Grade 1
- WALK ON AND ENTRY – Walk on with good posture, step entry into water with two breast stroke to surface in eggbeater.
- EGGBEATER – Stationary eggbeater for 10 seconds.
- HEAD FIRST BOOST – Eggbeater press/eggbeater ‘pop’.
- TRANSITIONS – SCULLING AND PROPULSION – Torpedo scull for 5 metres.
- TRANSITIONS – PROPULSION AND BALLET LEGS – Straight arm backstroke to a metronome for 15 metres (160bpm).
- THRUST – Basic thrust – one leg and crash.
- SPIN – Hanging vertical and 180º rotation.
- ROTATIONS – Tub turn 360º.
- AIRBORNE WEIGHT – Inverted tuck to vertical bent knee.
- FLEXIBILITY – Rapid split from tuck position.
