Applications open for University Club Support Funding for Synchro

Universities can now apply for Swim England funding to help create a synchronised swimming club.

Swim England’s University Club Support Funding is now in its second year. The programme is aimed at increasing participation in synchronised swimming.

Universities can apply for a grant of up to £2,000 to form a new synchro club. The money is available for pool hire, coaches’ fees, equipment and promotion.

So far, six universities – University of Nottingham, Imperial College, London, University of Bath, University of Bristol, University of Warwick and University of Leeds – have started, or are due to launch, new synchro sections.

The funding is available for new synchro sections only and all projects should start during Freshers’ Week 2018.

Flexible funding opportunity

Sarah Darragh, Swim England’s national development officer for synchro, said: “More than 100 students are now taking part in regular synchro activity and we hope to grow this to 200 by March 2019.

“Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to offer weekly synchro activity to students with the support of their Student Union.

“The programme is flexible allowing each university to run it they way they feel will be most beneficial in reaching the widest possible audience.”

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 29 June. To request an application form, please email sarah.darragh@swimming.org.
