Clark and Federici head to German Open

London 2012 Olympians Katie Clark and Olivia Federici will make their competitive return at the German Open that takes place in Bonn from 29 – 31 January.

Clark and Federici returned to the sport at the start of the season following their selection onto the British synchronised swimming Duet squad training for qualification to the 2016 Olympics.

The pair will compete in the Duet events at the three-day competition in Germany and will be using the same routines that they will use to try and secure their place at the Olympic Games at the Rio 2016 Olympic Synchronised Swimming Qualification Tournament in March.

The British Duet will be competing against 22 nations including Italy, France and USA.

History of GB Synchro at the German Open:

  • The last time GB athletes competed at the German Open was in 2013 when Clark won Duet bronze with fellow London 2012 Olympian Asha Randall.
  • In 2011, Federici and Jenna Randall (Asha’s sister) finished fifth in the Duet while Clark and Federici were both part of the squad who finished fifth in the Team event, and won bronze in the Free Combination.
  • In 2010, Federici won Duet silver with Jenna Randall and finished fourth with the Team. Both Federici and Clark competed in the Free Combo, winning bronze.
