Synchro casts a spell on the music world

We all know synchro is one of the most expressive sports around and it appears the UK music industry now agrees with Genevieve Randall taking the plunge into the music scene.

The 18-year-old Bristol Central swimmer, who is a member of the British synchronised swimming squad training for Rio 2016 qualification, appears in the new music video for UK indie band, The Magic Gang’s ‘Feeling Better’.

“It’s exciting to see the mood of the song reflected in the video,” explained the band. “The whole thing is something we are proud to have played some part of, and it feels like the music and video complement each other brilliantly.”

“It was a long day of filming but great fun and I really enjoyed working with the whole crew,” Genevieve Randall.

Talking about her experience, Randall said: “I was very excited to be asked to take part in the music video as it was something a little different to what I am used to. The band had seen me in competition and enjoyed my routines and felt like I was the athlete performer for the project.

“The band sent across the track and then I talked through with the directors their visions and what they wanted to achieve. In the end the best idea was to improvise to the music, so on the day nothing was rehearsed it was all very natural. It was a lot like like the early stages of choreographing a solo routine.”

Her appearance in the video comes on the back of the music video for Bombay Bicycle Club’s hit song ‘Luna’ which featured the sport two years ago.
