Brandimarte and Holloway take Tech Duet

City of Bristol’s Ilaria Brandimarte and Emma Holloway scooped Tech Duet gold to kick off the second day of the 2015 ASA National Synchronised Swimming Championships in Gloucester.

Brandimarte has only joined the club this year, but the pair impressed to score 66.1152 for their routine to music from Tosca, despite their relative inexperience as a pair.

“That was a really good swim,” said Holloway. “It was the first time we’ve swam together so it was nice to go out there and put in a strong performance for our first time.”

Brandimarte added: “We started working together properly in December so it’s only been about five months working together.

“We’ve trained this routine a lot. It’s really tough to get through but I think we did it well today.”

Second gold of Champs for Italian-born Brandimarte

Italian-born Brandimarte was one of the standout performers of the opening day, picking up Tech Solo gold and Free Solo silver.

And she seemed the perfect fit for Holloway – who won Tech Solo silver behind her teammate – as the pair maintained a fast pace throughout their routine combined with controlled performance of their required elements.

City of Preston’s Bethan Heap and Shannon McGinty took silver on 59.9902 while City of Leeds’ Abigail Devanny and Rachel Lee were third on 57.7060.
