Great Britain again showed the huge strides they have made with some impressive performances on the penultimate day of the European Junior Artistic (Synchronised) Swimming Championships.
Kate Shortman continued her fine form as she set another personal best of 85.9000 in the solo free final with a fifth-placed finish.
And the the free team also improved on last year’s European Junior Championship’s display as they took eighth place with a score of 78.6000.
Shortman, who finished fifth in the solo technical final with a personal best, was one point off a place on the podium as Ukraine’s Anastasiia Soldatenkova took the bronze with a total of 86.9000.
Russian’s Tatiana Gayday was the gold medallist with a score of 89.6000.
In the free team event, Alyssa Basinger, Isobel Blinkhorn, Millicent Costello, Daisy Gunn, Cerys Hughes, Cerys Larsen, Daniella Lloyd and Laura Turberville performed well to better last year’s position and total.
In 2018, the team finished in ninth, scoring a total of 76.4667 points
Karen Thorpe, Swim England National Synchro Manager, said: “Another busy day at the pool in Prague saw Kate smash another personal best to gain a fifth-place finish.
“The free team also showed an impressive improvement in their lifts and in a strong competition, the young team took eighth place.”
The final day of the competition on Sunday 23 June sees Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe compete in the duet free final and the team take part in the free combination final.
