Figures confirmed for 2018 National Age Group Championships

The draw for the figures competition at the Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships 2018 has been made.

Hundreds of the country’s up-and-coming synchronised swimmers will be taking part in the two day event at Gloucester’s GL1 Leisure Centre on 24 and 25 November.

The figures competition will start the championships and the draw is:

  • U12: Group 3 – Swan and Water Drop
  • 13-15:  Group 2 – Albatross Half Twist and Swordtail
  • 15-18: Group 3 – Junior Team Element 1 and Junior Duet Element 4

The National Age Group Championships is the top level domestic competition for young synchronised swimmers and is held across three age groups – 12 years and under, 13-15 years and 15 to 18 years.

There are four events contested by each age group – figures, solo, duet and team. Each discipline brings its own challenges and athletes will need to be at the top of their game if they want to achieve a clean sweep of medals.

Tickets and merchandise

Discounted tickets are available in advance until midnight, Friday 23 November from swimmingresults.org. Tickets can also be purchased on the day at the venue. Competition programmes are also available to purchase in advance for £4.00 each.

There will also be a range of merchandise on sale at the event including synchro water bottles, phone cases, bags, pens, pins and event hoodies.

Last year’s competition

Madeline Staples and Mimi Gray both won a hat-trick of gold medals at the 2017 Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships.

Reading Royals’ Staples claimed top spot in the 12 years and under solo, teamed up with Rebecca Saunders to win the 12 years and under duet and was also part of the gold-medal winning 12 years and under team.

Gray was a member of the Reading Royals’ 13-15 years sided that retained the team crown, while she also won the solo event and partnered Alyssa Basinger as they took the duet title.

Greta Hampson won two gold medals in the 15-18 years age group.

She partnered Danielle Lloyd as the Bristol pair took the duet title, while Hampson also claimed the individual gold medal.

But she was denied a hat-trick of gold medals as Rushmoor successfully won the team event for a third consecutive year.

In the mixed team event, Milan Kadrok and Hadi Khairul (London Regional SSC) won the 12 years and under title, Aquavision North London swimmers Anna Sagoo and Dilan Velani were 13-15 years champions while Orla and Ross Large (Bramcote) were victorious in the 15-18 years age group.
