Free Solo first for Hannah Randall
May 2, 2015Hannah Randall of Rushmoor Synchro SC claimed her first individual senior national title with gold in the Free Solo on the opening day of the 2015 ASA National Synchronised Swimming Championships in Gloucester.
The 18-year old had a busy day at GL1 Leisure Centre, finishing second in the morning’s Figures, before helping the England Talent team to Free Combination gold (international) then claiming her own individual victory.
Randall put in an expressive performance to Evanescence’s My Immortal, improving on her tally from last year’s National Age Group Championships to score 71.6667.
“I’m very, very pleased,” said Randall, who will compete with Rushmoor teammate Jorja Brown in tomorrow’s Duet competition.
“I’ve been working on that routine for a while now and I love doing solos. I’ve done them since I was 12. So I’m really happy to have won tonight.
“Ever since I’ve started synchro I seem to always have been second or third in the solo so it’s really nice to have finally reached that goal of winning.
“I performed the same routine at NAGs in December but I’ve made it a lot more difficult with faster movements and more movements in the routine.”
Brandimarte and Richardson capture silver and bronze
Tech Solo and Free Combination gold medallist Ilaria Brandimarte increased City of Bristol’s medal haul to four and secured her third medal of the day with a well choreographed routine to a remix of The Police’s Roxanne that scored 69.6000 for silver.
Finally, Randall’s England Talent teammate Rebecca Richardson swam the last routine of the session to grab bronze on 69.2333 for her domestic club City of Leeds.
