About the ASA National Masters Synchro Champs

The ASA National Masters Synchro Champs 2016 has both Technical and Free events. This is common in many synchro competitions.

Technical events have a number of pre-set elements. Swimmers complete five of these in the order that is set out. They also perform two other elements at any time during the routine.

Free events allow swimmers and coaches to be creative. They can perform any number of elements in any order. This allows more inventive choreography and artistic interpretation of the music.

Technical and Free team routines have four to eight swimmers, and the Team Combination event has up to ten. The more swimmers included in an event, the longer the routine will usually be.
