Get ready for the Synchro National Masters Champs

The Swim England Synchro National Masters Championships 2017 are taking place this weekend (4 November) in Rugby.

The event will be held at the Queens Diamond Jubilee Centre. It is the largest event on the domestic Masters synchro calendar and will see swimmers from across the country competing for national honours.

Like many Masters events, the Championships are the perfect balance between competition and camaraderie.

Swimmers from all different clubs will be hoping for medals as they perform their routines. However, they will also be cheering on each and every swimmer during the fun-filled competition.

Swimmers will perform both technical and free routines across the usual synchronised swimming events; solo, det and team. There is also a Combo event which provides a chance for more freedom in the routines, as well as larger teams of swimmers.

What to expect at the National Masters Champs

The Swim England Synchro National Masters Championships are a chance to see the sport showcased across many different age groups.

Synchronised swimming requires a huge amount of agility, technical ability and stamina. Watching people of all ages performing incredible routines to lots of different music highlights the inclusivity of the sport.

If you would like to come along and watch the event, tickets will be on sale at the venue. Car parking is free and there will be plenty of excitement going on throughout the day.

A whistle-stop tour of 2016

The 2016 Championships was a fantastic event for Seymour Synchro, with their swimmers securing six gold medals, including two individual wins for Yixin Zeng and Natasha Rukazenkova-Cleverly. They won the 25-29yrs and 30-39yrs Solo respectively.

Rushmoor also did very well. They secured one individual title at the hands of Andrea Holland in the 50-59yrs Solo. Georgina Gegg and April Poulter, and Andrea Holland and Carolyn Macdonald both took titles in the Duet competition. They also won two gold medals in Team events.

City of Preston claimed two titles, the first in the Solo event. Fiona Howarth impressed with her routine in the 40-49yrs age group. They also took gold in the Combo event, in the 20-24yrs age group.

City of Leeds took two Solo gold medals in the 20-24yrs and 70-79yrs, Out to Swim claimed a gold in the 60-69yrs Solo and the 40-49yrs Duet events, and Rubgy took the final title in the 40-64yrs Combo.
