Entries open for Artistic Swimming (Synchro) National Age Group Champs

Entries have opened for the Swim England Artistic Swimming (Synchro) National Age Group Championships 2020.

The event, which is the pinnacle of competition for age group swimmers across the country, will take place at Manchester Aquatics Centre on 7-8 March 2020.

Following on from the 2018 Championships, the age groups which are eligible to take part include 9-10 years, 11-12 years and 13-15 years, with the 15-18 years category moved into the Swim England Artistic Swimming (Synchro) National Championships on 18-19 April.

The 2018 National Age Group Championships laid the platform for Robyn Swatman’s breakthrough season.

Swatman won three individual gold medals, which led to her selection in the Great Britain team for the FINA World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships.

She was then named as Swim England’s Synchronised Swimming Talent Athlete of the Year.

Entries are open until 5 February 2020.

Tickets are available to purchase online here, with a 10 per cent discount on offer until 5pm on Friday 21 February, 2020.

The price will then be increased to box office rates and tickets will remain available online until 5pm on Friday 6 March, with the option to purchase at the event.

Event schedule

There are four types of competition at the National Age Group Championships:

  • All athletes will begin the competition by completing Figures, where they will receive a score based on their performance of four ‘figures‘ which increase in difficulty for each age group.
  • The Solo competition is open to the top 12 athletes from these figures rankings, who wish to enter in each age group.
  • The Duet competition is open to the top 12 athletes, and Mixed Duet competition is open to all athletes, but pairs must consist of two swimmers from the same club for both competitions.
  • The Team competition features between four and eight swimmers (all from the same club in both competitions).
