Olivia Baker claims golden hat-trick at Midlands Inter-Regionals

Olivia Baker claimed a golden hat-trick at the ASA Midland Regions Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships in Braunstone.

The Walsall swimmer was the only person to land age group Solo, Duet and Team crowns on the day.

The 12-year old was also the only one to break 60 points for Figures in the 9-12 Yrs age group, leading the way with 60.9067.

She claimed the Solo title on 118.3067, scoring 57.4000 to finish narrowly ahead of teammate Robyn Swatman (117.0333), who top-scored for the Solo routines on 57.7000.

Baker and Swatman combined for an impressive 59.6333 and gold in the Duet on 119.7533.

The Walsall pair finished fourth at last year’s National Age Group Championships and will have their sights set on becoming their club’s first national age group medallists for three years at December’s event.

Baker completed her hat-trick in the Team event as Walsall scored 55.5667 for their routine to finish on 111.1673 ahead of Rugby’s 106.4423.

Baker and Bradley-Smith add international class

There was a touch of international class on show in Leicester as London 2012 Olympian Yvette Baker and British international Phoebe Bradley-Smith competed in the open age group event.

Competing for City of Birmingham, the pair scored 70.9000 for their Duet routine.

Bradley-Smith also took gold in the Solo, scoring 69.7667 for her routine.

She completed a hat-trick as City of Birmingham scored 68.0000 for their routine as the only entry in the open age group Team event.

Watkins claims solo crown in competitive 13-15 Yrs

The 13-15 Yrs age group was the most competitive on the day as Walsall, City of Birmingham and Rugby battled it out.

After finishing third for Figures, Pyper Watkins leapfrogged to first in the Solo event, scoring 62.6000 for her routine.

Birmingham took top spot in the Duet, as Solo bronze medallist Sydney Jackson combined with Olivia Hall.

The pair scored 61.4000 for their routine to finish on 120.1084 with Walsall’s Watkins and Lilian Perry second on 120.0038.

The Team event went to Rugby, with Hannah Linden finally topping the podium after finishing first in Figures, then claiming Solo silver and Duet bronze with Nayana Walker.

Rugby scored 62.2667 for their routine to finish on 119.4343.

Rugby claim double in 15-18 Yrs age group

There were more medals for Rugby in the 15-18 Yrs age group. Gemma Broad and Emily Durkin scored 63.9000 and 63.0333 for their respective Solo routines on the way to gold and silver.

Durkin also combined with Rhea Perks for Duet gold after a routine score of 62.9000.

City of Birmingham denied Rugby the competitive hat-trick as they took the Team event on 119.0531 from Rugby’s 118.8697.

Walsall showed their strength in depth to field three winning teams in the Combination event. The claimed golds in the U12, 13-15 and 15-18 Yrs age groups.

Meanwhile, City of Birmingham claimed top spot as the only entries in the open age group Combination event.
