Great Britain's synchro stars compete in FINA Artistic Swimming World Series

Great Britain’s synchro stars are competing in Paris this weekend as the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2019 gets underway.

The squad of Kate Shortman, Isabelle Thorpe, Victoria Usher, Daniella Lloyd, Millie Costello, Daisy Rushton, Cerys Hughes, Cerys Larsen, Ilaria Brandimarte, Greta Hampson, Maddie Berry and Alyssa Basinger spent a week at a training camp in Italy before heading to the French capital.

Shortman and Thorpe will be in action first for Great Britain on Friday 1 March in the technical duet.

On Saturday 2 March, Shortman will then compete in the solo free competition before the team events on Sunday 3 March.

Great Britain will be in action in both the team free event and the free combination.

Strong competition

Karen Thorpe, Swim England Talent Manager for Synchro, said: “Our preparations have gone well at our training camp near Lake Como for five days and then here in Paris.

“The competition promises to be a good test as all the countries competing are very strong and stepping up their preparations ahead of the Olympic qualification events.”

The first leg of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series also incorporates the ninth French Open and is taking place at the Aquatic Centre Maurice Thorez

Alongside Great Britain, countries competing include Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Curacao, Spain, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine.

The second leg of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2019 is scheduled to take place in Alexandroupolis, Greece, from 4-7 April.
