European team inspires new generation of English synchronised swimmers

Last month saw the best European synchronised swimmers in London for the European Championships, with the British team impressing the home crowd with some exciting performances.

Synchro lover Saranne Black was one of the youngest faces in the crowd in London, having begun lessons at City of Birmingham Synchro Club in April this year despite being just five years old.

Saranne began swimming at six months old and has always loved the water, feeling most at home underneath the surface, as her swimming teachers at Warwick Swim School where she has lessons every Saturday know only too well!

Saranne also excels in gymnastics, so when introduced to synchro found it was the perfect match for her.

After watching the British team in London, Saranne had the chance to meet British and English synchro swimmer Phoebe Bradley-Smith and London 2012 Olympian Yvette Baker at a break in training (pictured above).

Saranne’s proud mum commented: “Saranne loves synchro and spends all week looking forward to her class!

“Her coach Shaz is fantastic with her and Saranne hopes one day to compete in synchro in the Olympics herself.”
