Applications open for START Synchro programme 2018

News and Blogs

Please note the application process for START synchro 2018 is now closed.

Clubs and operators can now start to apply for funding to help create a new wave of synchronised swimmers.

The START Synchro programme has already seen more than 600 youngsters take part in taster sessions across the country – with many joining clubs as a result.

Now in its second year, the Swim England funded programme aims to link primary schools with local clubs and operators by offering dry land synchro activities and free pool taster sessions.

This gives youngsters the chance to gain a complete experience of the sport with the aim of increasing the number of people taking up synchronised swimming.

Successful projects will aim to link these free sessions to local club programmes in a bid to help  membership numbers rise.

Apply for up to £2,000

The programme is flexible allowing clubs and operators to run it how they wish to reach the widest audience possible.

Clubs can apply for a maximum of £2,000 to set up a new activity linked to a local primary school. The money can be spent on pool hire, coach fees, equipment and promotion.

If not already accredited, the club must achieve SwimMark within 12 months to demonstrate it is sustainable and has effective practices in place and all projects should be completed by December 2018.
