News and Blogs

City of Salford looked determined to retain the Combo Cup in the first session of the day.

Competing in front of a packed London Aquatics Centre, the club took golds in two out of the three events.

Swimming to music from The Greatest Showman, Salford took the 13-15 Division 2 title with an improved score of 62.8000. City of Leeds took the silver with 56.3000 points, while Edinburgh Synchro ASC nudged Aquavision North London SC into fourth by scoring 55.6000 for bronze.

The reigning champions then received another high score for their artistic impression in the 15 and Under Division 1 event. They performed a dramatic routine to the Lion King. Receiving huge support from spectators, the team scored a total of 58.4000 points to take the gold.

City of Salford Coach Jess Fletcher said: “We’ve got two different teams and different routines from last year. A lot of work has gone into both and we’ve had a lot of fun with the choreography.

“Every year the standard gets better. We’ve got great communication between the northern clubs and are developing together. It would be fantastic if we were to win, but as long as everyone does their best, that’s the main thing.”

Rushmoor SC was second with 55.4000 and City of Bristol SC was third with 254.2333

Royal start for Reading

At the end of session one, City of Salford lead the Combo Cup rankings with 16 points, with City of Leeds second on 11 and Reading Royals third with eight points.
