Learn to Swim

A guide to the Learn to Swim Programme

Bring the magic of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to your swimming lessons

To mark the nationwide release of The Little Mermaid, Swim England has created a range of games inspired by the most loved characters for you to use in your swimming lessons.

Little learners will be encouraged to develop their core aquatic skills whilst having fun taking part in a Scuttle race, helping Ariel find her voice and swimming “under the sea” to find their human treasure.

This is part of a wider partnership between Swim England, Disney and Ocean Bottle who have joined forces as part of a campaign to challenge the obstacles and barriers which prevent people in England from learning to swim.

Swim England statistics show that while 14 per cent of white communities cannot swim 25m, this increases to 49 per cent of ethnically diverse groups. The collaboration has been created in a bid to make swimming and water-based activity as accessible and inclusive for everyone.

We hope all your learners enjoy taking part in these games and we’d love to hear your feedback on how your lessons went.
