Carla Pietrafesa on course for clean sweep

Carla Pietrafesa set herself up for a clean sweep of Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships titles after adding the solo gold to her collection.

The London Regional swimmer triumphed in the figures competition and followed that up with an impressive performance in the 12 years and under solo event.

Pietrafesa scored 61.8000 for her routine to end with an overall score of 130.0630 from her two events.

The 12-year-old, who recently won the Scottish Swimming Open Synchronised Swimming Nationals and Age Group Championship  figures title in October, said: “I felt really good coming out of the water – this was a big improvement [compared to Scotland].

“I was kind of expecting it but it’s really exciting when you’re doing your best.”

Baker goes one better

Walsall’s Georgia Baker took the silver medal as she finished 1.4667 behind Pietrafesa with a total of 60.3333 for her routine.

Baker’s overall total stands at 122.6808 after she went one better than her figures performance, where she claimed the bronze medal with a score of 62.2066.

Lily Halasi, who finished fifth in the figures with a score of 61.074, was in third place in the solo event.

The London Regional swimmer scored 59.6333 to end with an overall total of 120.7037.
