Rushmoor take duet gold on day fourMay 29, 2016
Day four of London 2015 Masters saw Rushmoor take duet gold in the 50-59 yrs age group, and some solid performances from GB in the Free Combination event.
Free Duet routine results
Andrea Holland and Carolyn Macdonald put in an impressive performance in the 50-59 yrs age group, finishing with a score of 118.7166 ahead of the German and Italian pairs. The two Masters athletes have only returned to the water in preparation for the London 2016 European Masters, after a long period in retirement.
Both women have competed at European events as elite athletes, Holland in 1977 and Macdonald (nee Wilson) in 1981 and 1983.
Also securing a medal in the free duet was Walsall pair, Zoe Cooper and Alexandra Kudryl, who finished second in the 30-39 yrs age group. Cooper had already won silver in the solo event, and she and Kudryl proved that their partnership was a cut above the rest, finishing just a point away from gold with 139.2333 overall.
Also putting in great performances in the duet routines were Brighton Dolphins SC and Rugby SC in the 50-59 yrs age group, Trafford Synchro Masters and Brighton Dolphins in the 40-49 yrs age group, Seymour in the 30-39 yrs age group and Rushmoor, Seymour and Portsmouth in the 25-29 yrs age group.
Free Team Combination results
There were come exciting performances from British Masters teams in the Free Combination event.
Seymour Synchro were awarded the highest score of any GB team, achieving sixth place with 67.100. Rushmoor came in seventh with 66.0500, Halifax scored 61.6334 for 12th place while Kingston Ladies and Portsmouth received 14th (59.7000) and 15th (58.5667) respectively.
City of Leeds secured 17th place with their score of 57.0834 and Rugby were 21st after their routine scored 45.0833.
