Race is on to book open water festival place

An action-packed two days of open water swimming returns to Sheffield’s Rother Valley Country Park this summer – and you can book your race place now.

Taking place on Sunday 29 July and Monday 30 July, the event features the Team 2K mass participation event when swimmers aged 12 and upwards and of all abilities battle it out to be crowned champions.

Swimmers will tackle the 2,000m course in teams of four, with each member having to swim at least one 200m lap. How the rest of the distance is split is down to you.

But it promises to be an exciting event – and one for all the family to consider taking part in. Everyone who competes in the race will receive a commemorative medal.

The Team 2K race takes place on Sunday, along with the National Open Water Masters Championships, which is the calendar highlight for open water masters swimmers.

See open water stars of the future

And on the Monday, the National Age Group Events will take place where young open water stars will race in allocated age groups.

But if you don’t fancy taking part in the races, why not go along and cheer the swimmers on? There will be a ‘village green’ featuring a variety of stalls and activities meaning it’s an event for the whole family.

For those swimmers thinking of competing in open water for the first time, wetsuit hire is available through Wright Sport and details will be included in entry packs.
