Development Coach

Speedo Swim Squads in Dubai is seeking a Development Coach to join their team. This role leads the poolside swimming programme, acting as a builder and manager rather than overseeing one group. The Coach structures sessions, aligns with the Head Coach’s vision, and focuses on long-term swimmer development and system growth.

Main Mission:

• Build and structure a strong, consistent, and progressive competitive swimming program.
• Manage the program to ensure long-term swimmer development, clear career pathways, and measurable results.
• Implement and adapt the program on a daily basis, as it is not delivered ready-made.
• The coach will be responsible for creating, adjusting, and bringing the program to life, ensuring it meets both immediate needs and long-term goals.

Expected Responsibilities

Program Development and Management:

• Define group organisation, progression logic, and training standards.
• Translate the Head Coach’s vision into operational reality on the poolside.
• Take overall responsibility for the consistency, quality, and results of the swimming program at the pool.

Daily Coaching:

• Directly supervise strategically important groups (Hotshots, Juniors, Youth, Ambition).
• Ensure technical quality, commitment, and adherence to behavioural standards.
• Individualise coaching, when necessary, without disrupting group dynamics.
• Empower swimmers to take ownership of their athletic development and goals.

Structuring the Link Between Learn to Swim (LTS) and Competition:

• Serve as the anchor point for the LTS to Competition pathway within the pool.
• Work closely and regularly with the LTS Manager to ensure alignment.
• Define and enforce common technical and behavioural fundamentals.
• Identify promising swimmers early and guide their progression.

Coaching and Development of Coaches:

• Act as the technical reference point at the pool.
• Support, structure, and develop the skills of other coaches.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback, sometimes challenging but always aimed at growth.
• Develop coaches who can think, adapt, and make decisions, not just execute instructions.

Performance and Progress Monitoring:

• Monitor swimmers’ attendance, commitment, progress, and results.
• Participate in competition preparation, performance analysis, and reviews.
• Ensure consistency in workload, intensity, and recovery over time.

Professional Attitude and Communication:

• Communicate clearly, factually, and professionally with the Head Coach, staff, swimmers, and, when necessary, parents.
• Maintain a stable, consistent, and confident framework.
• Represent the program with credibility and consistency.
• Recognise that, in a system under construction, a professional attitude is an integral part of the system.
