Trojan Sports is seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated Lead Development Coach to lead our Development Squad programme in Dubai from mid August 2026. Guided by our "quality first" ethos, we are committed to delivering world-class coaching, athlete development, and customer care.

The successful candidate will play a key role in bridging the gap between Learn to Swim and Performance Squads, ensuring swimmers develop the technical, physical, and personal skills required for long-term success. The Lead Development Coach will also provide leadership and support to coaching staff, helping maintain the highest standards across the programme.

Key Responsibilities

Squad Leadership and Athlete Development:

  • Lead and deliver high-quality Development Squad training sessions in line with Trojan Sports' coaching philosophy and long-term athlete development framework.
  • Design and implement progressive annual, seasonal, and weekly training plans that support swimmer development.
  • Develop swimmers' technical proficiency, race skills, fitness, discipline, and confidence.
  • Prepare athletes for internal competitions, UAE meets, and regional events.
  • Monitor swimmer progression, analyse performance, and adapt training plans accordingly.
  • Foster a positive, ambitious, and inclusive squad culture aligned with the Trojan Traits.
  • Work closely with Performance and Learn to Swim teams to support effective swimmer transitions through the pathway.

Coaching Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support for Development Squad coaches.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced coaches through observation, feedback, and ongoing guidance.
  • Promote consistency in coaching delivery, standards, and swimmer experience across the programme.
  • Assist with coach onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Trojan Sports' swimming curriculum and coaching systems.

Competition and Programme Management:

  • Plan and coordinate competition schedules, entries, and swimmer preparation.
  • Lead Development Squad attendance at competitions and training camps where required.
  • Track attendance, progression, competition results, and athlete development data.
  • Maintain clear communication with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff regarding progress, goals, and expectations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of Trojan Sports competitions and events at the Dubai Police Academy and other venues.

Operations and Collaboration:

  • Uphold Trojan Sports' professional standards, safeguarding policies, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learn to Swim Manager, Head Coach, and Operations Team to achieve programme objectives.
  • Contribute to team meetings, strategic planning, and programme development initiatives.
  • Support wider Trojan Sports operations and special projects as required.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Proven experience coaching competitive swimmers within a club or squad environment to regional standard or higher.
  • Strong understanding of long-term athlete development and swimmer progression pathways.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate athletes and coaches while maintaining high standards.
  • Relevant swimming coaching qualification recognised by World Aquatics, Swim England, Swimming Australia, or equivalent.
  • Current first aid and safeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable:

  • Experience leading a development or age-group squad programme.
  • Previous experience mentoring or managing coaching staff.
  • Experience working within an international swimming environment.
  • Knowledge of competition planning, athlete monitoring, and performance analysis.

What We Offer:

  • Extended holidays and reduced weekly working hours.
  • Access to a 50m Olympic-standard pool and premium training facilities.
  • Opportunities to lead and shape a growing development programme.
