Following the success of our recent recruitment drive, Winchester City Swimming Club (WCSC) are looking for a Performance Coach to build and strengthen our coaching provision even further.

About Us

WCSC is a well-established, community-focused swim club with a proud history of excellence in both competitive and developmental swimming. We are dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive and high-achieving environment for swimmers

WCSC is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with Swim Mark accreditation and now has approximately 1000 members ranging in ages 3 - 70. The charity operates out of many pools around Winchester, with our main base being the superb 50m pool at Bar End Leisure Centre, and attracts members from across Hampshire. We run a successful training and competition program. 

The successful candidate will work as part of the coaching staff and with all squad coaches. In line with Swim England’s Optimal Athlete Development Framework (OADF), developing the person and the athlete will be at the forefront of their thinking. Galvanizing team spirit, collaborative working and inspirational coaching is at the heart of the coaching programme. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality training sessions
  • Mentor and support assistant coaches
  • Monitor swimmer progress and adjust training programs to meet individual goals
  • Foster and promote a culture of  teamwork, collaboration and sportsmanship
  • Communicate regularly with swimmers, parents, volunteers and other coaches
  • Set goals to engage the swimmers, working closely and collaboratively with the Head Coach and other coaches to ensure consistency in training techniques
  • Motivate and inspire swimmers of all ages and abilities to reach their maximum potential
  • Attend coaches' meetings, galas and swim meets both locally and nationally as required.
  • Manage administrative functions as directed by the Head Coach 

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of coaching experience in a club environment
  • Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award certification is essential.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Proven track record of developing performance swimmers

 

Desirable (not essential):

  • Land-based training qualification- or the willingness to take the relevant qualifications
