The academy allows aspiring swimming teachers to receive all their training for only £85. It includes mentoring to support your development, and you’ll be matched with an employer.
What’s included?
- SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching)
- Level 2 Teaching Swimming
- Institute of Swimming Membership which includes over £100 worth of free e-learning.
- Practical volunteer placement
- Mentor to support the placement
About
Following successful completion of the programme there will be the opportunity to work at the following pools:
- Bicester Leisure Centre, OX26 2NR
- Brackley Leisure Centre, NN13 6JJ
- Spiceball Leisure Centre, OX16 2BW
Teaching hours will generally be weekdays 4-7 pm, and weekend mornings. Times will vary by site and there may be an opportunity for additional school / daytime hours.
Once qualified, successful trainees will be employed as paid swimming teachers by Legacy Leisure on a casual or part-time basis. Employment is subject to passing an enhanced DBS check. Successful applicants will also receive National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) training.

Shortlisted applicants will be given the opportunity to find out more about the job at an interview and informal virtual meet and greet session w/c 10 July 23.
You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training, although we are accepting applications from those who are halfway through their swimming teacher training or already have their level 1 or 2 qualifications.
