Introduction to Deaf Awareness and using British Sign Language in Aquatics

This CPD is designed to give Swimming Teachers, Assistants and Coaches information on technology, terminology and adapting games/ activities and the considerations to make when teaching people who are deaf/ hard of hearing. The CPD also covers basic fingerspelling and signs including introductions, aquatic skills, instruction and feedback.

This CPD is aimed at Swimming Teachers, Assistants and Coaches.

This is a 3 hour CPD and is delivered via Zoom.

Content

This CPD is broken down into two sections;

Part 1

An introduction to deaf awareness

  • This section will cover technology, terminology and adapting games/ activities and the considerations to make when teaching people who are deaf/ hard of hearing.
  • Part 2

    An introduction to signing for swimming lessons

  • This section will cover basic fingerspelling and signs including introductions, aquatic skills, instruction and feedback.
