Introduction to Deaf Awareness and using British Sign Language in Aquatics

This new webinar will give you an introduction to working with deaf swimmers in the aquatic environment.

The session is broken down into two parts –

  1. An introduction to deaf awareness

This section will cover technology, terminology and adapting games/ activities and the considerations to make when teaching people who are deaf/ hard of hearing.

  2. An introduction to signing for swimming lessons

This section will cover basic fingerspelling and signs including introductions, aquatic skills, instruction and feedback.

You will need to have your camera on for the duration of the session so you can practice the signs and receive feedback from your tutor to make sure you are performing them correctly.
