Learn to Swim

A guide to the Learn to Swim Programme

Learn to Swim games - the bean game

The bean game is a popular game that can be played throughout the Learn to Swim stages.

How to play the bean game

The teacher calls out the name of a bean and the child performs the shape suggested of that type of bean.

For example, for baked bean, they would perform a tuck float or for broad bean, they would stretch out in a nice, star shape position.

This game can develop many core aquatic skills and can be progressed to be made harder or easier, depending on the ability of the child and they stage at which they are swimming.
