Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championship date revealed

Swim England have released the date and venue for the first national open water event of 2023 – Swim England’s Open Water National Age Group Championships.

The competition will return to Rotherham’s Thrybergh Country Park following the 2022 event back in August.

This years running of the event will move slightly earlier in the calendar when the finest young swimmers from across the country descend on South Yorkshire on July 29.

Swim England’s Open Water National Age Group Championships contain races over three distances: 2km, 3km and 5km.

Swimmers aged 12 and 13 compete in 2km races, 14 and 15 year olds race 3km, while those aged 16 and over complete in the 5km race.

Wycombe District came out on top in 2022 as they took the top club award from the event for the third competition in a row.

Their swimmers picked up seven medals throughout the day with two golds, three silvers and two bronze medals in just 14 races meaning they’ll be the club to beat in 2023.
