Hampson and Lloyd successfully defend 15-18 years duet crown

City of Bristol duo Greta Hampson and Daniella Lloyd successfully defended their Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Championships 15-18 years duet title.

The victory sealed Hampson’s third gold medal of the event following her success in the solo and figures competition.

It was another impressive performance from the Bristol duo as they finished 8.4122 points clear of their nearest rivals and Great Britain team-mates, City of Leeds’ swimmers Daisy Rushton and Millicent Costello.

Hampson and Lloyd scored 72.3667 for their routine, with their average figures score taking their total to 143.8117.

The duo choreographed their routine themselves and Hampson said: “Me and Dan are like family.

Means so much

“We train together, at GB we are room mates whenever we go away for international competitions and we know each other inside out.

“To win in the duet and get the gold medal and be national champion is really lovely and it means so much to me – there is no-one else I would want to win it with. We choreographed it ourselves which makes it even more of a proud moment the you win.

“We saw Millicent and Daisy in the changing room before and it did not feel we were competing against them. We had two months where we were all together competing for GB and to see them here was a bit strange as they were against us and we’ve been so used to swimming together.”

Silver medallists Rushton and Costello ended on 135.3995 – 68.6000 for their routine and 66.7995 for the figures – to comfortably take second spot.

Reading Royals’ Cerys Larsen and Isobel Blinkhorn were the bronze medallists after scoring 68.067 for their routine and 64.6667 for the figures to finish with a total of 132.7334.
