Winsford Swimming Club (WSC) in Cheshire is seeking a highly qualified, friendly and ambitious Head Coach to continue to build on the success of our swimming club

WASC prides itself in providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to achieve their goals in the sport of swimming, whilst aspiring to be an elite club focused on the effective development of talent, competing at the highest levels, regionally and nationally.

The role of Head Coach role is to inspire, motivate and support swimmers at all levels. They must impart the Club's ethos and drive its success, provide skilled and confident leadership to swimmers, fellow coaches and Club volunteers so that everyone allied to the club may enjoy swimming and achieve their full potential.

The Head Coach supported by an enthusiastic and highly capable team, will report to the WSC Committee and will develop an Annual Training Plan for the Competitive Squads.

 Essential criteria:

  • Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 3 Coaching Swimming Award, or Swimming Coach Certificate/Level 2 Award and evidence of a plan to achieve the Senior Swimming Coach Certificate
  • Proven track record of developing swimmers to county, regional and national levels
  • Hold an up-to-date Swim England Safeguarding qualification
  • Hold or be prepared to gain a current land-based training qualification appropriate to swimming
  • Qualified first aider or prepared to undertake a relevant first aid course
  • A full driving licence or ability to reach any required locations
  • In-depth knowledge of coaching to a range of swimming capabilities
  • The ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, committee and parents/carers in all matters relating to the development of individual swimmers, squads and the Club.
  • Have a good working understanding of Swim England’s Wavepower.
  • Permit an Enhanced DBS with barring check and provide evidence of the right to work in the UK
  • Ability to forge relationships with neighbouring clubs, stakeholders and facility providers.

Key skills:

  • A high level of technical knowledge and experience in leading and motivating swimming squads of all levels
  • Support WSC swimmers as part of the County, Regional and National Performance Programmes
  • Ability to develop swimmer’s technique, motivate and encourage competitive swimming, ultimately to performance standard
  • Support, motivate, inspire and monitor a team of coaches and give regular feedback and direction
  • Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, coaches, volunteers and parents and to give constructive and positive feedback to inspire respect
  • Be a positive role model, maintaining high ethical and moral standards and adhere to Swim England’s Code of Conduct

 Remuneration, hours and location of work:

  • WSC offers an attractive level of remuneration dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Coaching hours are determined by the swimming program and will involve early mornings, evenings and weekends, approximately 20-25 hours per week with 80% poolside and 20% administration and planning.
  • Regular attendance at galas where WSC swimmers are competing
  • Attendance at overseas annual swim camp
  • Coaching and teaching will take place at the following locations:
    • Winsford Lifestyle Centre
    • Competition venues
    • Others as may be required.
