The ASA has announced the launch of a new National Open Water Festival to the 2016 events calendar.
The inaugural ASA National Open Water Festival will take place at Rother Valley Country Park from 23 – 24 July, and incorporates the ASA National Open Water Masters and Age Group Championships as well as a new 1,500m Challenge event.
Open water swimming continues to grow in popularity and is the perfect way to take swimming in a fun, new direction.
The addition of the 1,500m Challenge to the event schedule gives 200 new open water or competitive swimmers the perfect opportunity to experience the adrenaline rush of open water swimming from the comfort of a wetsuit.
The Masters Championships is open to Masters swimmers aged 18 to 80+ years and will run alongside the 1,500m Challenge on Saturday 23 July.
This is a calendar highlight for open water Masters swimmers and is their only opportunity to compete for national honours in the 1.5k and 3k events.
The Age Group Championships will be held on Sunday 24 July and will see young open water stars go head to head with their peers for national honours across 1.5k, 3k, and 5k distances.
The event is the country’s flagship age group open water event, attracting the future stars of the sport.
The two-day open water festival is completely free for spectators, so family and friends can come along to support swimmers and enjoy the festival atmosphere on the shore.
Entry information will be released soon however swimmers interested in the ASA National Open Water Masters Championships or ASA 1,500m Challenge can register their interest here.
