The home of artistic swimming in England

Artistic Swimming National Champs 2023: Who will take home the Redwood Trophy?

Will it be three in a row for Reading Royals? Or will the Redwood Trophy have a new home following this year’s Swim England Artistic Swimming National Junior and Senior Championships?

Last year was the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic that the coveted Redwood Trophy was up for grabs – and Reading wanted to keep a firm hold on the award.

The club from the South East ended Rushmoor’s reign to lay claim to the trophy in 2019, and in 2022 they finished on a high yet again.

Reading scored 72.7667 points in the Free Team competition to round off a successful competition and take home the trophy.

This time around, 150 athletes will compete across eight events, with a total of six trophies there to be won.

The Technical Solo competition will kick off the 2023 event, followed by the Technical Duet, Technical Mixed Duet and Technical Team competitions.

The second day of action will see the Free Solo, Free Duet, Free Mixed Duet and Free Team competitions take place.

As well as watching the clubs battle it out for glory, there are also a number of performances from the Great Britain squad scheduled in across the weekend.

Inspiration for Salford and Swatman to defend title

City of Salford impressed last time out in this competition, securing seven silver medals throughout the two days.

It was an emotional weekend for the club with it being the final time many of the swimmers in that squad would compete – but they will be hoping to take inspiration from last year’s success.

Robyn Swatman of Walsall Artistic Swimming Club, who will be showing off her skills as part of the GB team displays, will be looking to defend her Technical Solo title this year.

She took a clean sweep of the solo medals in 2022 after taking the senior and junior titles in both events.

To keep up with all the action, keep an eye on the live scoreboard here and the Swim England social media channels.
