Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships 2025 roll of honour
April 16, 2025Great Britain’s top young divers took centre stage last week as the Plymouth Life Centre hosted the Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships.
Athletes aged nine to 18 featured at the competition where 23 national titles and places at various international competitions across the year were on the line in the South West.
It was a successful four days for Swim England’s pathway divers at the competition with athletes from the Youth Development, Junior Development and DiSE programmes earning more than 40 medals in Plymouth.
As well as taking on the best of Britain, they also faced off against four visiting international teams from Greece, Italy, Australia and New Zealand as they got the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best divers in their age group from across the globe.
Amongst those celebrating was Junior Development squad member Phoenix Victory Hopkins, who came away with three medals from the event.
The Sandwell star was the standout in the Open/Male Group C events, claiming two golds from the 10m Platform and 3m Springboard as well as a silver in the 1m event.
He faced a tough challenge in the 3m event where he was pushed all the way by both Lucas Bishop and Harry Westbury.
Less than half a point split Victory Hopkins and Bishop going into the final round, but the pair then scored the same for their Inward 2 ½ Somersault Tuck to see the Sandwell athlete finish narrowly ahead of the Leeds man.
Westbury came from eight points back to score the best dive of the final round, closing the gap to two to finish just short of top spot in a thrilling finale.
The platform was a more straight forward victory for Victory Hopkins, leading from the off with a consistent list to score a total of 284.65, more than 20 ahead of the next highest scoring British diver in Bishop. The trio also split the podium in the 1m but it was Westbury coming out on top after breaking the 300-point barrier to take gold on home turf.
Southampton’s Ella Swete backed up her synchronised bronze from last year in the Female Group C events with an individual gold and silver on the springboard.
The Swim England Youth Development squad athlete put together a strong list to take the 3m crown, scoring 307.25 points to finish ahead of Sheffield’s Willow Kesteven-McGrath.
She was just eight points behind but bounced back in the platform event to go away with a gold of her own from her time in Plymouth.
In the Group B events, Simeon Greig became the only diver to sweep his age group across all three boards. The Sheffield diver left the South West with three golds to his name after a set of stunning performances at the Plymouth Life Centre.
He particularly impressed on the springboards where he was the only diver to go past the 400-point mark whilst holding his nerve on the platform to come out on top ahead of Felix Wheeler and Josh Saxton.
Plymouth’s own and DiSE athlete Amelie Underwood impressed in the Female Group A category. After missing out on a gold last year she went on to win both springboard events this time around with European Junior champion Skye Fisher-Eames taking the platform title.
Meanwhile World Junior medalist Todd Geggus also took gold in the Group A Open/Male 3m event to retain his title from 12 months ago.
