Determined Tom Daley reveals his motivation for successMarch 6, 2019
Tom Daley has spoken about how becoming a father has increased his motivation to perform at the highest level – so he can make his son proud.
Ahead of the FINA Diving World Series second leg, which takes place in the Beijing Water Cube between 7-9 March, Daley said: “I took four months off with my family because I now have a son.
“It changed my perspective on a lot of things, including training and diving. For me being able to train and dive is all the more important now because I have someone that I want to make proud.”
The 24 year-old won two medals on his return to the international diving stage during the first leg of the World Series in Japan, with a silver in the Men’s 10m Platform and bronze in the Mixed 3m Synchro.
Daley added: “It was my first international competition since I am back from my break and it went pretty well. So I am looking forward to competing here in the Water Cube.”

And the 2016 Olympic gold medallist is looking forward to the second leg in Beijing after winning gold there two years ago.
Laugher said: “I had a difficult season last year, but I am getting ready this year. China is always one of my favourite legs and where I always did pretty well. I am really glad to be here.”
Nine British athletes will be in action again as they aim for more medals in the second leg.
