
Sheffield lead the way with three golds on opening day
June 25, 2026City of Sheffield Diving Club made a strong start to the Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships 2026, securing three gold medals on an opening day packed with quality performances across the age groups.
With national titles up for grabs from the first session, divers from across the country delivered an impressive standard, setting up an exciting few days of competition.
Sheffield’s gold medal tally began in the Female Group B 1m, where Sofia Griffiths Williams delivered a standout performance to take the title. They added a second individual gold through Sebastian Karanjit in the Open Group D 3m, before securing a third gold in the synchronised events, where Karanjit combined with Leonard Soltoianu (Corby Steel Diving Club) to win the Open Group D Synchro title – making it a shared success with Corby Steel.
The first gold medal of the championships went to Regan Raffell of Southend Diving, who claimed the Female Group A 3m title with a score of 281.45. She was joined on the podium by Elodie Biggam (Dacorum Diving Club) with 261.45 and Skye Loukes (City of Sheffield Diving Club), who took bronze on 254.50.
In the Female Group B 1m, Jasmine Bailey (Dive London Aquatics Club) claimed silver behind Griffiths Williams with 240.65, while Teagan Mousley (Plymouth Diving) secured bronze with 231.50. Isla Berry (Aberdeen Diving Club) placed second overall with 244.00 competing as a guest from Scotland.
In the Open Group C Platform, Beau Barry (Southend Diving) took gold with 221.10, finishing ahead of Hunter Mapstone (Southampton Diving Academy) on 209.75 and Cai Tobin (Star Diving Club Guildford), who scored 206.50 for bronze.
The Open Group D 3m saw Sheffield return to the top of the podium as Karanjit claimed gold with 180.10. Parker Halsey (Southend Diving) took silver with 170.45, while Macsen Norris (City of Sheffield Diving Club) added another medal for the club with bronze on 169.65.
The final events of the day saw the first two synchronised titles decided. In the Open Group D Synchro, Soltoianu and Karanjit combined to take gold with 165.66. Southend pairing Beau Barry and Blake Scroxton finished second on 160.80, while Jared Hull and Vico Mattioli (Dive London Aquatics Club) claimed bronze with 154.44.
In the Female Group B Synchro, Alice Jones and Teagan Mousley (Plymouth Diving) delivered the top performance to secure gold with 199.74. Emily McKeown and Florence Brindley (Star Diving Club Guildford) took silver with 178.80, while Erin Simmonds and Jessica Mather (City of Leeds Diving Club) completed the podium on 174.90.
With medals shared across a range of clubs but City of Sheffield emerging as the early leaders with five medals, three of which golds, the championships are heading into day two tomorrow.
