Swim England Diving 'excited' as live online workouts available for whole community

Swim England Diving are excited to announce that live workouts will return throughout the duration of the second national lockdown across England.

Following the success of live workouts for athletes on the Swim England Talent Diving Pathway during the initial lockdown period, some of the most popular sessions will be making a comeback.

However, this time around they will be available to the whole diving community.

Sessions will include expert advice on yoga and mindfulness hosted by Olympic medallist Leon Taylor as well as Josh Devine’s ballet conditioning sessions for diving.

Leon admits he often wishes he had found yoga earlier in his diving career and is keen to share its benefits with the diving community.

His sessions will be fantastic for any level of diver looking to work on mobility, core strength and body awareness, all of which are essential in the sport.

This will be coupled with mindfulness and relaxation exercises at the end of each session.

Suzie Collins, Swim England Diving Talent Officer, said: “We are so excited to open these sessions up to the whole diving community.

“They were extremely beneficial for the talent divers and we can’t wait to have more athletes involved.”

High levels of engagement across the sport

The sessions run by Josh Devine, who is the communications lead for the Swim England Diving Leadership Group, will see a combination of diving skills mixed with the finesse of ballet.

The focus will be on building strength and flexibility in the ankles and lower body, good posture, control, range of movement and developing explosive power.

Josh said: “I am really excited to be back and helping to deliver such a dynamic programme of support to the divers again.

“Delivering these sessions online has given us the ability to reach all those who want to access the sessions which continue to see a strong uptake since the Live @ 5 workouts with talent divers in the last lockdown.

“It has been great fun introducing ballet to the divers and coaches and seeing such high levels of engagement across the sport.

“I look forward to seeing everyone on Zoom and inviting a wider community of divers to the open sessions as well.”

Sessions will be conducted on Zoom at a cost of £5 per session or alternatively, you can purchase a bundle of sessions at a reduced price.
