Sam Buck joins Diving Leadership Group as Coaching Lead

Sam Buck has been appointed as Coaching Lead for Swim England’s Diving Leadership Group to support the delivery of coaching within the sport.

Sam has a wealth of coaching experience and has been a key part of Dive London’s success since he joined the club back in 2017.

He’s worked with a number of Great Britain’s top athletes, including the likes of Ben Cutmore and Kyle Kothari who represented Team England at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

In 2022, he became London’s head coach, a role he’s also held at both Cambridge Dive Team and Luton Diving Club in the past.

The Coaching Lead acts as an informed voice in relation to the coaching landscape of diving, providing input on priorities of the sport and supporting Swim England to deliver those needs.

As part of his role, Sam will also help to achieve effective communication between the leadership team and the coaching community.

And his appointment has been welcomed by the group’s Chairperson, Lottie Thompson, who is looking forward to working with Sam to shape the future of the sport.

She said: “We’re really excited for Sam to join the Diving Leadership Group.

“As a passionate and experienced coach, Sam will help us connect with diving coaches across the country and give them the opportunity to work with us to continue to drive and shape the sport.”

‘Supporting the needs of our coaches’

Ahead of beginning his new role, Sam is looking forward to pushing the sport forward to bring even more success.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Swim England Diving Leadership Group and hoping to move the sport on to new heights.

“I have always strived for improvement and feel that my experiences can help to tailor the future both from a coaching and sport point of view.

“Diving is a relatively small and tight knit community but that doesn’t stop us having huge aspirations. As long as we can work together then these dreams will hopefully become reality.

“There are many things that the sport of diving does well in this country and the aim will be to help build on these foundations, bring in new thoughts and ideas from all levels of the coaching community and push on to even more sustainable success.”

Swim England’s Head of Coaching Lindsay Trimmings is delighted to have Sam represent the diving coaching community.

“Sam is an incredibly experienced and successful coach so we’re delighted that he’s accepted this role.

“By having Sam as part of the Diving Leadership group, he will be able to help Swim England support the needs of our diving coaches from grass roots all the way up to the elite level.

“We know that he will ensure the voices of the coaching community are heard and we’re looking forward to having him support our diving programme.”
