Silver for Shamshudin at LEN European Masters Championships 2018September 3, 2018 Latest Updates
Amersham Swimming Club member, Shiraz Shamshudin, won silver medal in the Men’s 50-54 Platform event in the LEN European Masters Championships 2018
His score of 169.70 secured second place ahead of Germany’s Lutz Ehmann who finished on 168.85. The gold medal went to Rokas Sermuksnis of Lithuania who finished a more than 30 points ahead of the rest of the field with a score of 199.85.
In the 45-49 event, Richard Heraty of Barnet Copthall Swimming Club finished fourth on 147.20 points.
Gold went to Erik Seibt of Germany (286.40), silver to Roccardo Giacometti (220.96) of Italy and the bronze went to Italian team mate Enrico Talpo (164.60).
Shamshudin won another medal in the Men’s 80-109 3m Synchro event alongside Heraty.
The duo scored 138.36, just 15.84 behind the leaders Henry A Betancourt Munoz and Mario Olave (Austria). Paolo Sassarini and Enrico Talpo (Italy) finished second with 143.28 points.
Men’s 3m Springboard
Shamshudin also competed in the Men’s 50-54 3m Springboard where he finished eighth with a score of 143.85.
Jozsef Kelemen (Hungary) secured the gold with 295.19, while silver went to Rokas Sermuksnis of Lithuania who scored 251.75, with Johannes Fenz of Austria in third (214.80).
In the 45-49 age group, Barnet Copthall’s Heraty just missed out on a medal finishing fourth on 182.65.
Italy’s Giacometti secured the most points (283.90) with Seibt of Germany finishing next in the table (262.15) and Italy’s Paulo Sassarini came third (224.95).
Men’s 1m Springboard
In the Men’s 40-44 1m Springboard event, Justin Claudio Arienti of Waltham Forest came fourth with a score of 175.25.
The leader, Betancourt Munoz (Austria) secured 249.45 points with the closest contestant, Roope Pelo (Finalnd), on 218.08. The bronze medal went to Leonidas Kotikas of Lithuania with 177.75 points.
Heraty also competed in the 1m event in the 45-49 age group and finished fourth again with 182.65 points. In the 50-54 age group, Shamshudin finished ninth on 149.25.
The 45-49 title went to Giacometti (Italy) with 283.90 points, the silver to Seibt (Germany) with 262.15 and Sassarini of Italy secured the bronze medal with 224.95 points.
Sermuksnis of Lithuania won the gold medal in the 50-54 age group with a score of 245.60.
Hungary’s Kelemen secured 223.10 to take the silver and Jari Komulainen of Finland took third with 189.70 points.
Popkin represents in the womens categories
Louise Popkin of Dacorum Diving Club competed in two events and won two bronze medals.
In the Women’s 25-29 1m Springboard she scored 188.60 to finish 45.40 points behind leader Jelina Von Bornhaupt of Germany (234.00). The silver medal went to Croatia’s Lucija Velican (201.70).
The Women’s 25-29 3m Springboard saw Popkin finish marginally closer to the leader, this time 38.45 behind with 238.20.
Gold went to Von Bornhaupt (276.65) and silver to Velican (254.25).
