Super start for Southampton at National Age Group Champs

Southampton Diving Academy enjoyed multiple successes at the Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

They topped the podium in both the Girls’ and Boys’ C/D 1m Synchro events on opening night.

One two for Southampton in first session

Maya Kutty and Milly Batten won the first gold medal of the event in the Girls’ C/D 1m Synchro. They were just two points ahead of their club mates Olive Ullyatt and Dulcie Wilson, who secured silver.

Kutty and Batten scored a total of 155.22 to secure their victory. Their best dive was their inward dive piked which scored the pair 42.00 thanks to consistent execution and synchronisation scored from all judges.

Ullyatt and Wilson scored 153.48 to clinch a second medal for Southampton. They were just ahead of City of Sheffield rivals Amelia Scott and Poppy Bond who took bronze with 153.48.

Cazaly and Bull take second gold for Southampton

Oliver Cazaly and Nathan Bull secured Southampton’s second title of the Championships, finishing on 156.96 in the Boys’ C/D 1m Synchro. They were very consistent in all of their dives for both execution and synchronisation, however their second dive won them the event. They nailed the synchronisation for the inward dive piked, scoring 44.40.

Second place went to Jack Jefford and Quinn Shaw of Crystal Palace and Albatross respectively. The pair finished with a score of 153.36. City of Sheffield’s Noah Prasanto and James White were the other English divers on the podium, securing bronze with 1.47.72.

Breach and Cook dominate Boys’ A/B 3m Synchro

Ollie Breach and Finlay Cook of Albatross Diving Club demonstrated their technical ability and synchronisation as they won the Boys’ A/B 3m Synchro event. The pair secured gold with 221.61. Their final dive, the inward two and a half somersaults tucked, scored them an impressive 49.41. They were over 45 points ahead of the rest of the field at the end of the round.

Nat Connolly and James Pollard came second. They scored 175.29 to claim silver for Luton. Harrison Turner and Matthew Patterson from City of Leeds came third with 161.34.

Burton and Graham leave the competition behind

Katie Burton of Luton Diving Club and Elora Graham of Cambridge Dive Team were paired up in the Girls A/B 3m Synchro. They had a lead of 19 points at the end of the final round, scoring 202.29.

Sephora Ford and Charis Bell took silver in front of a home crowd. The City of Sheffield divers made their way onto the podium with 183.72. Sasha Brook (Southend) and Grace Connolly (Luton Diving Club) followed up for third with a score of 182.88.
