Swim England Diving Youth Development Squad selected for 2025
January 3, 2025A group of 26 divers and 14 coaches have been selected to be a part of Swim England’s Diving Youth Development Squad in 2025.
The Youth Development Squad (formerly known as Team Z) is the first step on the Swim England Diving talent pathway and gives divers the opportunity to take part in seven weekend training camps over a 20-month period.
13 of the divers are new to the programme for this year, whilst a further 13 have progressed onto their second year after impressing throughout 2024.
Divers from 11 different clubs will be a part of the cohort, which aims to prepare the athletes for junior international competitions.
The camps cover a range of themes in both pool and dry land while they also give them the experience of being away from home and developing lifestyle skills.
They are spending the opening days of the new year on the first camp of the calendar year at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
They’ll be heading to South Yorkshire from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 January for a weekend focussed on refining their diving techniques, improving physical conditioning and enhancing their mental preparation.
The camp will act as an induction for the new first year divers that were selected following their impressive performances at the Swim England Diving Talent Games.
‘Exceptional skills and dedication’
Speaking on the squad for 2025, Swim England diving programme lead, Connie Ford, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome these athletes to the Swim England Youth Development Squad.
“These divers have all demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication and we are delighted to be able to support them as they continue their diving journey.
“It’s going to be great to have our second year divers back with us and we’re really looking forward to officially welcoming our first year divers at the camp in Sheffield this weekend.
“It was great to see the depth of young talent competing at this year’s Talent Games and we hope that we can help these divers improve even further with our camps across the year.
“Thank you to all the coaches and staff who have given up their time to come and support our squads throughout the next 12 months.”
