Caledonia cruise into national water polo finals

Caledonia cruised into the Swim England Water Polo National Age Group Championships Finals weekend with a 100 per cent record in the boys U19 qualifiers

They were the only side to win all three games as the four semi-finalists were confirmed at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester.

Caledonia defeated Cheltenham 23-6, Watford 13-9 and City of Manchester 18-10 to win Group B.

City of Manchester took the runners-up spot after beating Watford 8-7 and Cheltenham 26-0 in their other two group games.

Sedgefield take top spot in Group A

In Group A, defending champions Sedgefield took the top spot after winning two and drawing one of their three matches.

They opened up their campaign with an 11-11 draw with Sheffield, who also won their other group matches to take second place in the group.

Sedgefield then defeated Newton Abbot 31-4 and Croydon 20-5.

City of Sheffield ended with a goal difference of 30 after beating Croydon 24-13 and Newton Abbot 23-4.

Having beaten third-placed Croydon by a wider margin, Sedgefield finished top of the group.
