Swim North West to host girls' Under 16 Inter Regionals

This weekend the ASA Under 16 Girls’ Inter Regional water polo competition is set to take place at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre, hosted by Swim North West.

The tournament will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May and will feature teams from all eight English regions, as well as Scotland, Ireland and Wales, in what is sure to be a fantastic weekend of high-level action.

The East Region will be the team to look out for, having claimed victory in the competition the last time the 2001-born age group met.

One of the players worth keeping an eye on over the weekend is North West Thunder and England Under 16s’ sharp-shooter Molly Boniface-Ashton, who starred for City of Liverpool at the ASA National Age Group Championships last month and scored 29 goals in five matches at the U14 Inter Regionals two years ago.

The weekend’s tournament will consist of group games on Saturday, before cross-over matches on Sunday to decide finishing positions, including the final played at 3.40pm which will confirm the team claiming the crown as 2016 Under 16 champions.
