How to follow Great Britain at the 2024 European Water Polo Championships

The waiting is finally over as Great Britain’s senior women make their return to the European Water Polo Championships for the first time in a decade tomorrow.

The 14-strong squad travelled to Eindhoven yesterday following a pre-tournament training camp in Zeist as they complete their final preparations for the event. You can see the full British squad here.

The action begins on Friday 5 January where Great Britain have been drawn in Group D alongside Slovakia, Bulgaria and Germany.

Great Britain’s schedule

Friday 5 January

Great Britain vs Slovakia, 11am GMT

Saturday 6 January

Great Britain v Bulgaria, 8am GMT

Sunday 7 January

Great Britain v Germany, 12:30pm GMT

Monday 8 January – Saturday 13 January

Crossover and classification matches – GB fixtures to be confirmed following group stage

This year’s finals have been split into two divisions for the first time where the women’s competition has also been expanded to 16 teams to match the men’s event.

That means if Great Britain finish in the top two of their group they will then face one of the top eight sides from last year’s finals in a crossover match for a chance to reach Tuesday’s quarter finals.

Monday’s crossover match would be against one of the bottom two sides in Group B which could be either Spain, France, Israel or Italy.

A third or fourth place finish in their group means they’ll be heading into the 13-16 place ranking matches which will be held on Monday and Tuesday.
