Second European win for GBR

GBR made it two wins out of two as they beat Israel 5-4 (1-0,  0-0, 2-2, 2-2) in a thrilling game at the LEN European Junior Water Polo Championships qualification tournament in Manchester.

The team took an early lead with Ben Stephenson opening the scoring at the end of the first quarter.

Neither team could find the back of the net in Q2, with Thomas Manley making the save.

Both teams came out from the break with scoring on their minds. Michael Patterson gave GBR an early lead but two from Israel squared the score. Matthew Kendall closed the quarter with the home side’s third goal.

The final quarter also saw both teams score twice. Captain Connor Carpenter brought the score back to  4-4 before Dominique Zahra sealed the win with 0.01 left on the clock.
