The university offer a comprehensive athlete scholarship programme with a financial bursary and support for national and international-level athletes.

Water Polo Scholarships at the University of Manchester

Talented athletes can apply for a University of Manchester Water Polo Scholarship through the university’s internal SPORT Manchester scholarship programme.

To be eligible for a University of Manchester Water Polo Scholarship, players must be competing at a minimum of junior national level.

The scholarship package is designed to support the needs of students balancing studying an academic degree with achieving their sporting aspirations.

Students would receive a bursary of either £250, £500 or £750 depending on their achievements or potential, as well as benefits such as one-to-one strength and conditioning sessions, physiotherapy, workshops, mentoring and lifestyle support, and free kit

Athletes with a University of Manchester Water Polo Scholarship will also receive Athletic Union club membership and an annual gym pass for either Sugden or Armitage Sports Centre.

Sports Facilities at the University of Manchester

The University of Manchester’s main gym is located at the Armitage Sports Centre in Fallowfield and features a selection of modern cardio, free weight and resistance equipment.

The University is also shares the gym at Sugden Sports Centre with Manchester Metropolitan University.

The University of Manchester water polo teams are based at Manchester Aquatics Centre – a world class facility which staged the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Manchester Aquatics Centre features two 50m pools, a suana, steam room and a fully air conditioned fitness suite.
